You are correct they are not related. I saw on one of those T.V. specials (I thnk MTV but not totally sure) featuring D.C. that Kelly's mom let her live with the Knowles because she was with them all of the time. Kelly and Beyonce were saying that they went to school together and were practicing all the time together so it was easier for her to live with them. That even sounds suspect to me because I don't care who did what, my mom wouldn't let me live with anybody for such a simple reason
Personally, I liked their first CD and loved Independent Woman
but I still have my disagreements with the group. I was reading a magazine that actually interviewed the other two girls for their side of the story. It was shocking. One of the old members was/is the girlfriend of one of the members of Jagged Edge. Supposedly when old DC went on tour or something with Jagged Edge, Mr. Knowles put one of the other girls mother off the bus saying she couldn't ride b/c of insurance or something like that
I thought that was just plain low down
One more thing, Beyonce may be the way she is because she has never really been alone without her parents. She said that making that Carmen Hip Hopera was the most time she had ever been around people her own age without her parents. Sorry for the long post
