i don't feel your opinion was uptight . i see what you are saying and have felt the same way at different times. as an expectant mother, i have no intention of allow my child to watch programming that is age appropriate. i do wonder about the same things you and tonyb06 do in terms of the types of things that we as black people embrace and find humour in and how it can be interpreted or misinterpreted. some days i think we have to not take ourselves so seriously and perhaps take things for what it is.

as hateful as the word nigger is, sometimes i think it helps that we as a people have the ability to take something so awful and turn it around. i appreciate the fact that with all that our people have gone through we have the ability to laugh at ourselves to lessen the deep pain. that survivor instinct is a wonderful quality.

thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. i do hope that you at least like paul mooney. i have seen him perform and he is well worth the money and time!
