My father was a high school basketball coach and spoke of this occuring frequently. After retirement he briefly took a job in another city and found that his all black team listened to the assistant coach--who was white--more than they listened to him.
As a supervisor I have also had black folks expect us to be girls or boys and that I would let them get away with murder. We can be cool and all--I'm not the type to forget where I came from, but doggonit, do your job!
Just another case of the white man's ice being colder. **shaking my head**
