I competed in the 1991 Bolingbrook/DuPage Township Junior Miss program. (It was called Young Woman of the Year at the time, they changed it back to Junior Miss a few years later.) It was an absolute blast! I won a runner-up award for talent. It was funny, I completely was not expecting to win anything so when they called my name as the winner, I just stood there. They called it a couple more times until the girl next to me elbowed me and said "Hey, that's YOU!"
