She needs to go and jump in the lake with that lawsuit!! I was not appalled and I was not offended. I was actually entertained. I love Janet Jackson and I didn't find her "display" to be all that bad. I thought it was funny. I may be out on a limb by myself here, but I don't see the big deal. Like stardusttwin said, it happened so fast, if you would have blinked, you would have missed it. If you really weren't paying close attention, you still would have missed it. The cameras cut away very quickly. In a society where there is always such outrage over gays and lesbians getting married, having civil unions, etc., there was no outrage over Britney, Madonna, and Christina tongue kissing on TV.
People can say what they want. I would much rather my kids catch a glimpse of a boob than some girls kissing. Some/most kids have seen their mom's boobs before (depending on the comfort level in the home). Some/most of the people watching the show have their own boobs. Why would I be worried about Janet's? She had the guts to show hers on national TV. She has apologized repeatedly, yet the media and everyone else is still harping on it.
However, Britney, Madonna, and Christina can tongue kiss and it gets played repeatedly on every station on television. The pictures were displayed on the covers and pages of nearly every nationally published magazine. The pictures were blown up, zoomed in on, and highlighted so we can see the tongue exchange. Did they have to apologize? NO. Did anyone sue them for exposing their kids to "lesbian activity?" NO. Did ritney or Madonna lose any public appearances? NO. So why the big deal over Janet?
People need to write it off as a mistake that was made and keep on moving. It would be easier for me to explain to my kids about a boob that was shown and gone in a flash than explaining why two girls are kissing. Some things you take with a grain of salt. I was more appalled by a horse farting in someone's face than seeing Janet's boob pop out.
