This isn't about you because thank god for courteous drivers but this all reminded me of something.
There is a fine line between driving too assertively and not assertively enough. People around here drive me crazy because no one knows how to merge. They'll actually go 30-35 on an on ramp, brake before entering traffic or worse, stop and expect to be let in when they had at least another half a mile to get up to speed and find a place to merge gracefully. Seriously, if you are moving almost the same speed as the traffic on the highway you need a much smaller opening to get in safely.
