I actually would love for there to be a show with Black college students dipicting the life of educated black students and their experiences, actually like A Different World, but a more up to date one. I think As The Sands Burn should be brought to the screen.

I think an up to date Different World would be a great series, however I think ATSB would NOT be a great choice. Talk about stereotypes!! Based on that series I think folks would get the impression that Black college students (especially greeks) are back stabbing, not to interested in school or helping other, and preoccupied with sex.

[QUOTE] We don't only need to be shown as crime victims/inflictors, welfare cases, drug addicts, gang members, poor folk that the ER's, Chicago Hope's, and Law & Order producers depict as "reality". [QUOTE]

I think ER depiction of "us" is pretty good (for a mainstream show). There are thugs and crazy people of all races. I especially liked the show they did were the white and black teenages came in with either stab or gunshot wounds and one was a gangbanger and the other was a good student, nice kid, etc. They did not tell which was which, but let us (and the folks on the show) "assume" based on stereotypes. As it turned out the gangbanger was the white kid and the black kid was the "good boy". It was a great show. Of course, I was quite p.o. when Dr. Benton was the only one who got caught "out there" and had a baby out of wedlock with someone he was not really in a relationship with. I mean Doug was sexing every thing that moved and no one ever got preggers. Wait a minute, Carol did get pregnant, so I guess that doesn't count.

What are some of your ideal shows that, if you could, would design and produce?

I really didn't mean to get off into my thoughts so deeply as to invoke a huge societal debate or discussion, this is actually meant to circulate tv show ideas. lol..so, please just answer my initial question...
Wooops....I guess I did what you did. You know how we are! Can't follow directions for nothin'! LOL Anyway...I am enjoying Soul Food on Showtime, although I wish they would show Damon as more than just a piece of eye candy.

I would also love to see a love jones type of show on a weekly basis. 20 - 30 something professionals, trying to find love, them selves, establish careers, etc. I especially liked their group discussions on different issues. That part reminded me of my friends.

I would also like to see a "Now and Again" (I think that is the name of it) type show with black folks.

I would also like to see a drama with a single black father raising a child. Hey! Maybe they could spin off "Bruce Van Exel" from Judging Amy with that fine behind Richard T. Jones! Ummmmmmm

Matter of fact, any black drama would be welcomed!!
