My collegiate chapter of DO had a bylaw that stated you could either be in DO or one of the NPC groups on campus, but not both. I think that actually helped us, "reputation" wise. In my mind (and with this confirmed by some NIC/NPC folks on campus), that put us on the same level as them, by making DO our first and only devotion. I think if we had allowed dual membership, we would have suffered from "less-important" syndrome.
However, that is only the environment on our campus, I can't speak for anywhere else.

Ever since I have been a member of SAI, there has been at least one sister in the chapter who was also in a social GLO. Right now, like I said, we have 2 DZs. THey've never treated one like it was less important; however I can definately see how some might do that.
