I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that not only would a Northern Democrat have trouble winning the South, but any Democrat at all would, no matter where he or she was from. I've lived here all my life, and in the Deep South, traditions die hard, no matter how utterly ridiculous and shallow they might be.
