My alma mater, THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH aka PITT is not the same thing as PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY aka PENN STATE. KillarneyRose speaks the truth! Just a reminder, though, there's also a State System of Higher Education (SSHE) that consists of 14 (I think) public universities, some with branches. Two of my favorite names of schools are in the SSHE:
California University of Pennsylvania
and
Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
