I blame this on the state of black radio today. When we were growing up you had many choices and a wide variety of music to listen to. Now, you turn the radio on, change stations (r/b, pop,top 100 doesn't matter) you'll hear the same 10 songs in rotation. I only listen to radio on Sunday morning-Hal Jackson-on my way to church.
These young kids today only know current music that is run to death of whatever artist is flavor of the month. They have no real idea of good musicians (singers that can sing without aid of electronics), tone or even music choices for their own range (or sense enough to just rearrange to better suit their voice). They just copy whatever they hear on the radio and the pickins are slim. That child saw Beyonce in Fighting Temptations and just assumed it was a new song.
Another thing that makes you go hmmmmm... the brother yesterday (Omai I think) he started to sing a group song and when they said no started to complain-why would you pick a group song and try to sing harmony by yourself !
However, I'm loving the new "Keith" and got a HUGE laugh again tonight...(sorry don't remember his name, Asian engineering student from Harvard) "she bangs, she bangs"...I was waiting for Ricky Martin to come out of the wings and knock him out for messing his song up!
