How about if we say that they have been on the winning side in every war they have participated in on the US side. That's assuming we can agree that the French were totally out of the Indochina (Vietnam) war by the time we got in seriously.

The time they oppossed us, The Franch and Indian War, we won. As I recall, they also aided the Confederacy in the American Civil War.

As much as I hate to admit it, the French and Indian war was a side show to the real war in Europe. The reason that I argued that they could claim victory in the American Revolution was the fact that they had a vastly greater number of military resources commited to the world-wide military conflict that the American Revolution was a part of/touched off. Also it was the French who ultimately brought the British to the table to sign a peace treaty.

As for Indochina, yeah they were gone before the US commited even advisors.... but most of the troops weren't even French, there was a large number of German veterans filling out their ranks.
