Different organizations have different rules. Some are very wide-open (I guess to encourage higher numbers) and some are of course lower.

With Sigma Nu, a legacy is defined as any man who is a collateral or lineal ascendant of whom is or was a brother in the Fraternity or any man, the uncle or great uncle who is or was a Brother in the Fraternity.

I guess by those rules, I could have only been a Phi Kappa Sigma and Sig Ep legacy.
