The TV Guide show on cable interviewed Damon Wayans and he stated the show was indeed modeled after the Cosby Show. Him being one of the producers, he modeled it because it depicted the types of families that you haven't seen since Cosby was canceled.
I have seen the show and it was OK. For some reason, I can't grasp Tisha Cambell being a mother of a teenager. I still see her as Gina Waters.
