Since GC only has 4 groups, I don't see asking that as such a big deal, especially because you are to know your guest fairly well. I always used it as an arguing block... meaning that if I know what I am up against I can say way we would be better for the guest. But I can also see why that might be not very nice... I always asked (if I even asked, most of the time they tell you) nicely. I.E. Did you have a nice time at your other party (s), which would lead into a discussion of the other party(s)... if we were the first of the evening, then I would say towards the end "Are you looking forward to your other party (s)?". Both types of questions are yes or no, and don't need expansion upon, but more likely than not the guest will say yes I did at such and such. I never ask out right for where they were going or where they had been.
Also, we never look down upon a guest if we were the only party because we like the guest enough one way or another.
I guess this isn't true for all the groups at GC, so I could see why it might not be something nice to share. Luckly I don't have to pref anymore! My edge would be gone!
