If your can't have it pierced at your place of employment obviously you wouldn't want anyone there to be able to see it but then once you're on your own time (nights and weekends) you can change the stud. When I had to do teaching placements in college I didn't want it to be visible but when I was getting ready to go out to a party or chill with friends I would want people to be able to see it.
