Oh that's a trip because last semester I did a paper about sweat shops in Mexico, Peru, South Africa, etc. and again, Wal Mart was all up in the mix.
It is hard to believe that they were getting away with this in the US. Overseas, US corporations are totally exploiting workers. What's really sad is they get away with the old "We had no knowledge" claim and life goes on (and the sweatshops are still up and running today). Very sad.
To answer your question, h-ll no this is not legal. Children are not even allowed to work 40 hours a week. In NY, children need working papers that show parental consent.
