LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - BET is diving into the reality TV business with a new 13-week series that follows the lives of eight black coeds at Louisiana's Southern University.
The show was unveiled Friday during the Viacom-owned network's portion of the Television Critics' Assn. press tour in Hollywood.
"College Hill," produced by Edmonds Entertainment ("Soul Food"), is set to debut at 9 p.m. on Jan. 28. The series aims to put the spotlight on life at one of the nation's historically black colleges.
"There is college life and there is black college life," said Stephen Hill, BET senior vp music programming and talent.
To promote the show, BET will mount a watch-and-win sweepstakes that will hand out $2,000 in college scholarship money per episode.
