If Pete Carroll had class, he would too!
------------
I know this was a while back, but I just caught up with this thread and this particularly stuck out at me. Pete Carroll is hands down one of the classiest coaches out there. No one can deny the fact that he's a fantastic coach (he was, after all, voted the National Coach of the Year), a great guy and truly an inspiration. He had a front page article written about him in USAToday praising him- clearly USC fans aren't the only ones who see something great in Pete! Even east-coasters like myself can appreciate what he's done. He's a hands-on coach who adores his team! He's not coaching for the money, he's doing it because he loves football and he loves his team. He has completely turned around the USC program and brought back a great sense of spirit and pride in Trojan football. Plus, he's well spoken, intelligent and has never once verbally attacked another team, another coach or even the BCS. To me, Pete Carroll is the epitome of a classy coach. Trojans won the AP National Championship title by a landslide and they won it fair and square. Why should Pete name LSU the TRUE National Champion? They're not. They're the BCS National Champion. I don't care if they have a crystal football, it doesn't cancel out the fact that they were voted #2 by the AP.
To me, it's ridiculous to go on and on about how weak the Pac-10 is (they went 4-2 in their bowl games while the Big 12 went 2-6; plus, USC's opponents Hawaii and Auburn won as well) and how USC didn't even play a good team (hello, WSU! They defeated the Longhorns in the Holiday Bowl and are now highly ranked in the BCS) this year and how they're not "worthy" of a share at the National Championship. It seems pointless to make up excuses as to why LSU should be the one and only National Champion. It's a fact: the title was split, there are two champions. You may not like it, but accept it. Congrats to both the Tigers and the Trojans- they both had a helluva season and deserve their success.
