at my school- there are only 5 sororities... 4 national... and mine- which is local.... I'm not sure the figures about how much is spent on rush... I was rush chair for this past fall which was informal- and I spent about 500 maybe? not even i would guess- it was my first time around and we weren't sure what we were doing- numbers had been really low and the previous rush chair had graduated- and we had some pretty unsuccessful years due to a pretty bad reputation (the fat ugly girls...

) so i wanted to completely revamp everything... we got some girls... but we'll only get better- ANYWAY i'm off topic.... i think the other sororities- probably spent like 1000 i woul dguess- their rush is usually bigger- they are nationally backed and have strong rush chairs (needless to say the competition was pretty formidable.. eek!) the only thing we can do is take notice and pay attention to waht they did.... its usually not too crazy-
the first two days are spent in our student union (its split- 2 sororities randomly chosen for the first day and the other three the next) and there i saw lots of balloons- lights that kind of thing.... (i did a birthday party type theme b/c it was our 75th- we did blue and white balloons- and put our composities and paddles up- that kind of thing)
the next day is informal meeting at the houses- where they can come in- meet everyone- get a house tour- and then we vote give out bids for pref night (we call it final tea) and then they go to the mailboxes- get their bids and go to the houses they want to see....
then final tea- we do our ceremony- and the girls leave- we vote- and give bids to the mailboxes....
then- the next day informal is allowed to start and we can do wahtever we want.... its pretty competitive esp considering we don't ever get big numbers MAYBE 30 at the most... anyway- enough babbling- sorry! oh yea- we dress alike for these events all black for final tea.... jeans and rush shirts for the other days- we get all thes ame rush shirts- with like a saying on the back and letters on the front- and then each sorority usually orders individual shirts too
