I've been doing mine for about 2.5 years and I've gone to 3 different places. When you go to get them filled back at school, you just say "I need a fill" and they will give you exactly what you want. I have never had them completely removed and started over, you only need to completely replace them when/if you break one.

Every salon I've been to uses the same acrylic filler. The only difference I've had are in filing styles (flat vs rounded) and paint vs airbrush for the french manicure.
