Although I'm a native SoCal, I still don't wear pure white pants, dresses, skirts and shoes (especially, since my shoe size is 10 and only certain white shoes look OK on those of us w/large feet) and skirts after Labor Day unless it's for certain types of business.
I usually start with white on the first day of spring rather than wait for Memorial Day.
I was raised by an Eastern- and Southern-reared mother and sister, so I learned a long time ago to lay off the bleach/stark white in what passes for winter in LoCal. Winter white and ivory are good year-round alternatives for me.
