I don't understand the conclusion you're trying to draw with that statement. Branding is not a official practice of any of the NPHC organizations, rather something individual members decide to do to show love and commitment to his/her respective organization. I have
HEARD (I'm not saying this is true) at least one NPHC organization has kicked around the idea of suing members who get brands/tatoos of the letters/symbols for coypyright infringement.
It's not so much that we are "allowed" to brand/tatoo ourselves. It's more like no one has put a halt to the practice of branding because the issues of how to "stop" it, repremanding "offenders" and who would pay for the removal of the "offending" brand/tatoo have not been, in my opinion, dealt with successfully one way or another, if it's been brought up for serious discussion al all.
