Kappa Alpha Theta was the first greek letter fraternity among women...meaning we were the first to use greek letters as our name. It all started when our founder Betty Locke was asked to join a fraternity but not able to initiate they wanted to use her as as mascot figure so she decided to start her own"fraternity for women". Also we were the first to have a woman elected onto the senate. We are the only sorority to use black or gold as our colors..a lot of others use common colors such as red, blue. white, green, etc. That is all i can think of for now.. for other first's visit
