I grew up with several different housekeepers.

Some did simple and basic cleaning services, such as dusting, mopping, cleaning bathrooms.

Some did that and wash the clothes till they messed them up.

Some did that, wash the clothes and cooked.

Then, some did all of the above and nanny care when my brother and I were little kids.

I guess the prices vary over the years.

But now, my mom pays $50 per visit and my mom has to pick her up from another house that the lady is a live-in maid. The lady does not live far and then when she's done for about 4-5 hours of work on a Saturday, she is taken back to another house she lives in for the last 20 years...

When my mom has a party, she asks the lady to come help with the clean up efforts and pays her at least $50 and then some...

The lady is in her 40's... She is extremely reliable and trustworthy.

That is very difficult to find these days. So an interviewing process would be of great help. Ask for viable references when choosing... If a friend refers someone to you and you have seen this person's home and it's clean for the most part, then you know that have a decent housekeeper on board...

I would be leery with recommending someone under the age of 25 years old... But, then again, you never know who'd help you the most...
