Yes, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I've never heard a man say he cleans the house when he is ticked off.
and for everyone who's saying "don't be so oversensitive" and things like that...all I can say is, until you walk in someone's shoes, and have their experiences, you don't know how they feel.
