I don't think it has anything to do with that - that's roughly the same amount of chapters that Gamma Phi Beta has currently open. I think it has to do with where you chose to colonize vs. where we chose to colonize, and where your early chapters were.

As an example, in Wisconsin, our Gamma chapter is at the UW. They built up a fabulous reputation for us, so when we wanted to expand to other schools in the UW system, it was easy to go to Oshkosh, Milwaukee, River Falls, and Platteville, and later to Marquette. We had the strong reputation because of them, and I'm sure this has to do with our prominence in some of the other Midwestern states, as well as California.
