The BCS is the best system we have at this time. I said that when we were ranked third and I still stand by that. However, it needs some changes. What gets me is the USC people that think there should be a split championship trophy. Don't get me wrong all three teams are qualified and they are all excellent football programs. I really think it makes OU and USC's coaches look bad when they are both on TV saying they are both the number one teams. We'll see...............
I guess I'm biased too.
Some interesting thoughts:
a.. LSU outsored opponents by 314 points compared to USC's 281
b.. LSU played 5 teams with 8 or more wins, whereas USC only played 2
c.. The opponents winning percentage of LSU's top 5 victories was 80%; USC's top 5 opponents winning percentage was 66% (does not include head-to-head matchups).
d.. LSU played 4 games against opponents that will playing in bowl games on Jan. 1 or later. USC played zero such teams.
The media claims that USC shouldn't be penalized for its weak schedule. While we will never know how USC would have faired against Georgia (twice), Ole Miss, and Arkansas, we do know how LSU faired . . . just look at the evidence.
