However, I have thought about the other side of the coin- as in what if Bush is right? I even considered joining the republican party and tried to get down the College Republicans. But I just don't agree. It's not that I don't think there are some valid points in the republican platform or that there aren't some alright republicans, like John McCain for example. I'd vote for him. But the direction that Bush has taken the republican party, and the country for that matter, is just way too far to the right. And yes, I do think there's a bit of a "conspiracy" if that's what you want to call it. I don't feel like typing everything I think out now, but if you look the 2000 election, Enron, the war in Iraq, put the pieces together and something smells fishy. I also strongly disagree with the notion that we as a nation have some God-given responsibility to bring the "American Way" to everyone else. That's just a modern-day version of taking up the White Man's Burden.

I hear what you're saying...and I hear the arguments all the time. And actually for me, its not about being republican democrat or a "smelly liberal"

Some things I agree with, some I don't. To me right now...the Democrats have placed themselves in a position where they benefit politically if the economy takes a turn for the worse, if we DONT find Bin Laden, and if we DON"T find WMD's..and that bothers me. Lets face it, no politician is perfect, and no PERSON politician or not can be 100% trusted...whether it is Bush, Clinton or Gore...that's why I am an independent and I vote by the issue, not by the party. I just refuse to buy into all the "garbage" that's spewed about Bush i.e. he only went to war for his Dad and that he's this evil little man. Peoples perceptions depend on party affiliation sometimes...because many of the Democrats who were for the war when Clinton was in office..weren't when Bush wanted to go.
Politics as usual I guess...
As far as conspiracy theories...I think I will start a thread on that. I know my community has tons of them that run so deep...people actually perceive them as the truth i.e. AIDS was invented just to kill the black man... and KWANZAA! (although its not a conspiracy theory....many people do believe this "event" has legitimate African origins).
I'm proud to say G Dubya is my president. He's not perfect...but I'll take him over Gore anyday.
