Cheerleading is seen as a traditionally female pursuit though? And crossover of guys into traditionally female things is a whole lot less socially/societally acceptable than crossover of women doing "male" things?
Another question is how do female cheerleaders view males who want to cheer with them? With suspicion? With open arms? With indifference?

I am going to have to answer this. Female cheerleaders....as being a past one....do not have problems with male cheerleaders. Yes some can be perverts and in it for the wrong reasons, but for the most part they are there to be part of the experience. I guess if you have never been a cheerleader you do not totally understand the fun you have and the bonds you make. I always saw cheerleading as sort of another social group...a fraternity/sorority in its own. Yes it WAS seen as a female pursuit, but there have been male cheerleaders for so many years now that people need to drop the stereotype. Just my .02.
