Praise Ye the Lord

Last Friday, Dec. 5, during the Nor'easter, my manager allowed us to leave at 2 p.m. I was OK with this, thinking I would be home by 4 to watch some of the courtroom shows.

But it was not to be. At 4:30 p.m., I was still in traffic (mind you, my commute is normally only 35 minutes) and I had left work with less than a quarter tank of gas -- and the needle kept getting closer and closer to the E.

Finally some time after 5 p.m., I pull into the Gulf, turn off the engine and ask the technician for a full tank. I reach over to open my purse and realize that I had left my wallet -- which contained my debit card, credit cards and license on my desk at work!

And here's the blessing: it was so cold the technician couldn't get the cap open, so all I could do was drive home and wait for the weather to get warmer.

I told my husband that night I nearly called him from the jail, because the people at the gas station never would have believed that I had accidentally left my office without my wallet. In addition, I more than likely would have been cited for driving without my current license (in Jersey, the fines just went up from $44 to a whopping $173 per document.

I haven't finished thanking Him yet!
