Class Notes from the Denison University Magazine (Summer 2003)
Tina Marie Andrews '05
Tina Marie Andrews came to Denison from Chicago's South Side. Growing up there, she says, taught her to be grateful for everything she has. In addition to her many accomplishments, Tina Marie takes pride that she will be the first in her family to graduate from college.
As a high school student at Chicago Vocational Career Academy, she enrolled in a program with Trinity Hospital that alllowed her to earn a licensed practical nursing degree. Her love of nursing carried over to Denison, where she studies Pre-Nursing and Communication.
Tina Marie is active in the Black Student Union, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, Project READ, and the Office of First Year Students. She has been a member of Residential Life staff (both during the school year and summer) and she has worked in the library and Black Studies office. During breaks from Denison, Tina Marie works in nursing homes in Chicago. Tina Marie's career plans are to be a nurse practitioner specializing in gerontology. She is currently studying abroad in Ghana.
