Well first, good for you in showing initiative.
As far as why they lost contact . . . it probably has little to do with you and if you haven't applied to the college they don't know your grades.
Most likely either the Rush chair changed, or you are just a victim of the fact that we fraternity chapters are not professional organizations with databases and clearly worked out procedured. Probably they had no real follow-up plan with what to do with pre-frosh that are so far away from enrolling.
Also, they really can't have you coming to the house ultra frequently, that would just be a little a strange.
I would send thema letter priority mail. Its in a big envelope so won't be overlooked. CC it to the chapter president and rush chair.

OH and take the rest of the year to work out in the gym and get in some spectacula shape . . there are a lot of cute girls to hook up with when you first get to shcool . . you might as well maximize your chances
