Between a name like Assata Akili, which is a legit name, and something like Shamaleka Boomshakalaqua. Ms. Farrish is on point, IMO, with "bastardized names."
This article isn't surprising. Just a manifest of how discrimination has gone somewhat

If I have kids, I won't be giving them a "ghetto" name. I may give them African names as part of their overall name, but that would depend on my now non-existing husbandperson and what he would think.
