Something VERY easy to do is to just buy some cute picture frames and put pictures of you and their son together in them. Instant mom-pleaser! I did this w/TKE209's parent's, it helped dress up their living room and since TKE209 HATES to have his pic taken it was special for her to actually have nice pictures of him.
