This has been a very tragic event on our campus. This is especially hard because of how it effects the entire university. Our university newspaper is trying to be unbias as much as possible showing the good in the officer as well as in Mikey. I guess in a situation such as this one its hard to point fingers and say who is wrong because I don't think there is a right answer.

I live about four blocks from where this incident occured and a couple of weeks before my roomates and I also called the cops on a very similar case. A male was pounding on our door around 1 in the morning but by the time the cops got there he was gone. The house across from ours is the home of six males who rarely lock their door and about a month ago they came home to find a guy in their living room waving a knife at them.

Ball State is not a bad school. These incidents are around the locations of the bars and by moving into this area you know that along with a great location you will also have the unforntunate incidents that happen with those who drink uncontrollably.

In this case that is so tragic I understand why the cops were called and some of the actions (not all) that were taken. The other rookie officer (there are two rookies on the Ball State Police Force) is a friend of mine and I have confidence in the training he has recieved and in his fellow officers. This was a tragedy that may have been prevented but we cannot go back and fix it we can only look forward and pray for the officer, the fraternity, the friends and the family of those involved.
