I went through rush twice, thankfully not at the same school. My first time around I just didn't click w/ any of the girls & I didn't accept any invitations back to pref. When I moved schools the next year I ended up falling in love w/ Sigma Kappa & stayed.
If anything, my experience going through rush the first time helped me to realize exactly what I was looking for when I attended rush again.
