Just to answer your question on why someone would join a sorority that they do not agree with all the policies and beliefs of the organization....well, I believed in the ideals that the sorority was built on, but along the way things have changed. I am no longer a member, because of a heavy class load (felt I was not giving enough time to my sisters to call myself an active member, it was out of respect.) in the beginning and I have not reactivated because I don't agree with the way the sorority is headed. Too many rules our being bent for some and not others for one thing. I just don't believe it holds the same standards and beliefs that it was meant to. I still love my sisters, don't get me wrong, but I can't be an active member of something that I don't support whole-heartedly. To me it's not breaking my oath, it's respecting the founding ideals enough not to support the course it's on now.
