Mom: born on the Island of St. Michael, of the Azores, Portugal. She came to America in 1965. Both of her parents were Portuguese as well.

Dad: French Canadian. Both sets of his grandparents came down from Canada.

I want to say that I've posted it before, but what I think is fun is the story of how his family got to Canada from France. My uncle discovered it a few years ago when he was researching our families history as a gift to my grandfather...

Back in medieval/feudal times the latest generation of the family consisted of 2 twin brothers and their families. I don't remember details, but one brother ended up killing an important town official. He was killed and his family was banished from the country. They ended up going to Canada, and the letter "X" was tacked on to their last name so that from then on all would know who was related to the "evil twin." Yay for having an "X" at the end of my name.
