I would suggest talking to a doctor, it may be a manifestation of stress or something else, or it could just be sleepwalking.
In the meantime you may want to consider some sort of system to warn the people you live with (assuming you live with other people). I went to a summer program with a woman who was a sleepwalker. She tied a bell to her ankle each night when she went to bed (like a sleigh bell) and asked us to wake her if we heard her walking around. It also kept others from being scared if she appeared in your room in the middle of the night.
If people hear you up and around and know that you are not awake, they can wake you and send you back to bed so you don't fall down anymore stairs!!
