way back in the dark ages(1978) when i was a rush counselor, the theta's did the cutest song to the tune of the current(at that moment) dr. pepper song. they sang the whole song with appropriate theta lyrics and did a dance(at fsu then we all did yard dances in front of our houses after the "rushees" had assembled and awaited the start of the party. anyway, it was the "i'm a pepper, you're a pepper, he's a pepper, she's a pepper, wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?", except theta replaced pepper. the dr. pepper ad was showing on tv at the time, so i felt they were very clever to use it, because everytime the ad came on, i thought "theta" and i am sure the rushees must have too. the chi o's always did this cute ditty on the first day of rush, where they broke up into groups by the part of the state(or country) they were from and each group came out of the front door as a group and said a poem about their city-it sounds hokey, but it really was cute. and the tri delts had this cheer they did after the girls had been escorted out of the house that went "oh, oh(long and drawn out) the delta, the delta, the delta, delta delta, and then i could never catch the words, because clapping was involved and they said them really fast in a rythmic beat, but they ended the cheer the same way it started and it did stick in your mind. we ended our parties with that old standby, the greek alphabet song-another mind sticker! i wonder if the sororities banded together way back when and collectively commissioned a study for someone to develope rush songs and chants that could never be forgotten?
