Yeah, 5'4" isn't really short. In fact, it's the average height for a woman. But what can I say? At 5'5", I still am shorter than most people in my family, and almost a good foot shorter than Dude.
I would suggest spending more on better boots with a genuine leather upper--especially if you're going to be some place where it snows a lot. Salt is hell on pleather.
My knee-high boots have about a 2" heel, and I wear them everywhere. They look fierce w/ long skirts
