My mother has filed bankruptcy too. Apparently she got accustomed to s acertain lifestyle while married to my daddy, and whenthey divorced couldnt understand why she couldnt still have that lifestyle............
As a result, she lost my childhood home.........that may sound materialistic to many, but some of the best and my most favorite memories as a child took place in that house and that neighborhood. It was the last place I truly felt safe, hence when I have a nightmare, I often revert to that house in my dream as a safe place.
Ofcourse my mom has a big laundry list of other problems, but for all of her problems including bankruptcy she blamed other people. She's never taken responsibility for any of the choices she's made that has got her in the mess she's in..........as a result of this and again a laundry list of other things we are no longer close, and only talk about twice a month, and if lucky see her once a month, and we live in the same town currently.
