I don't think anyone at my school who was going through recruitment a second time after dropping out or being cut across the board would have it held against them. People can change a lot in a year. People who were cut for grades can bring them up. Brand-new freshmen who are stressed from adjusting to college life on top of rush can turn into experienced, confident sophomores. A relatively immature freshman can turn into a very mature sophomore or junior.

On the other hand, if someone pledged and then depledged, she would probably be scrutinized a little more heavily. The idea being, "she depledged last year, what's to say she won't do it again?" An exception would be a situation where she had depledged because of extenuating circumstances such as a family emergency.

I've always felt that you should look at the PNM the way she is today, and not just say "oh, we cut her last year, no one remembers why, it might have just been grades, but cut once, cut always."
