Josh, that is a very sweet story. I don't see anything wrong with connecting with pledges, actives and alumni. I think it builds a stronger organization/chapter. It also offers opportunities to learn about those who came before you and those who came after you. Learning from the past (whether it be accomplishments or mistakes) could help you with the future.
Anyway, I am the oldest member of my sorority at 30 going on 31. I connect with sisters (pledges, actives and my fellow alumnae) who are 3-12 years younger than me via email (some are also on Xanga) or in person. In the future, when we have sisters who are 20+ years younger than me, I'll still connect with them. That way they know about about the past and build on they future!
Keep building on those connections!!!
