The Robert Townsend Comedy Special (very old):
The scene takes in a clinic, where people are waiting for their test results. Robert Townsend is in the doctor's office getting his results. R. Townsend emerges from the
doctor's office screaming "SYPHILIS! YES!!!! I HAVE SYPHILIS!!!!" He is laughing, pumping his fist in the air, and giving high-fives as he leaves. (For those who do not get it: This aired in the 80's when people were starting to get serious about the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Although, Syphilis is one of the many serious STDs, there is a cure.)
I'm Gonna Git You Sucka:
When Antonio Fargas gets out of jail wearing his dated pimp attire (like the gold fish in his platform shoes) thinking that he is so fly.
She's Gotta Have It:
Mars Blackmon (Spike Lee) -- "Nola, would you grease my scalp?"
Mars sleeping w/ Nola w/ his socks on.
School Daze:
(Laurence Fishburne)-- "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!"
Do the Right Thing:
The three men on the corner (With the always so funny Robin Harris)
Radio Raheem (Bill Nunn) -- "Put some more Mozzerella (pronounced Mooootzerella) on that motherf*@#%&"
Tina (Rosie Perez) -- "Mookie there will be no rawness jumping off."
House Party:
As the credits are rolling, you hear Robin Harris wearing Kid's behind out and he says something like "I'm going to beat you until I get tired, and I just woke up."
Jungle Fever:
Gator (Samuel Jackson) doing his Soul Train moves for his Mama (Ruby Dee).
Gator and Halle B. arguing.
Gator (while going through withdrawal) -- "Mama I am tired, I need some money!"
Ruby Dee -- "If you're tired, go lay down...."
When Flipper (Wesley Snipes) brings his secretary/mistress Tina (Annabella Sciorra) to dinner and the Good Rev. Dr. says his peace and leaves the table (as Ruby Dee paces the kitchen talking to the Lord).
When Tina goes home after her father finds out about her involvement w/ a black man. As he beats her, he basically tells her that he'd rather date a criminal than a black man.
Gator's last dance for his father (perhaps if he had not come back in to dance, he wouldn't have caught that hot one).
What's Love Got to Do With It:
When Ike meets Tina outside of the club where she is performing, he convinces her to sit in the car with him. He goes on to tell her "I'm off dem der narcotic." (Hysterical)
Harlem Nights:
The fight scene --
Eddie Murphy accuses Della Reese of coming up short w/ her portion of the money and she invites him outside to settle the matter.
Eddie gets outside and starts laughing, Della punches him in the face a few times and that wipes his smile completely off.
Della takes a punch in the stomach and slowly straightens up, saying (through clenched teeth) "Oooooooooh yeah, that's
what I'm talking about."
Della then proceeds to tune Eddie up, she says "You're going to learn to respect me."
Just when Eddie thinks she is down for the count (after clocking her w/ the garbage can), she gets up and says "See, now I'm going to have to cut you."
When he can't convince her to put the knife down, he threatens to shoot her her pinky-toe off. Della is like "Go ahead, shoot me..." as she dangles her foot.
Eddie turns around to look at his boys. They look at him and shrug as if to say "What are you going to do? Are you
going to shoot her pinky-toe off or what?"
That entire scene cracks me up. Just the sight of Della Reese fighting Eddie is hysterical. And I could not believe
he actually shot her in the foot to save face. Then, later in the movie Redd Foxx tells him to "Go on in there and talk to her, you never did apologize for shooting her in her foot." Redd Foxx said it like they had a verbal disagreement. The man shot the woman in the foot!
And of course the Della Resse/Redd Foxx combination is priceless. Della complaining that Redd left only a swallow (I think of tuna fish) in the refrigerator and she had her mouth set. As she continues to complain about him only leaving a swallow. Redd mutters "Then swallow it and shut the f*#@ up."
LOL -- Nothing like some good, old-fashioned, clean, humor!!!
