Folks generally avoid confrontation. Many folks on here are not very skilled at overcoming contraversy and making it something positive.
Ya'll have to admit, folks on here have very little patience and acceptance for contrary points of view.
90% of the contraversy on here exists because people adopt a "my way or the highway"mentality.
So what's to gain by confronting folks? Generally speaking.. drama, backstabbing, stupid crap that we should have grown out of in HS.

Every semester as part of our active chapter's membership program, I teach a few leadership classes. My favorite is called "Contraversy with Civility". Now, if I could teach a web course over it, I think many folks on here would stand to benefit.
Maybe if certain individuals would adopt a policy of acknowledging other folk's points, pointing out similarities, looking for collaberative conclusions, etc.. contraversy/confrontation could be productive. As it is, here, too often, it ends in a locked thread.
