Also, DA, you can't discount the producers on the national station. I mean it's about 90% their fault in this particular matter.
Unless someone's worked in or around a news program, they'd have no idea about the sheer volume of material that CNN produces. I'm talking about TONS of sports, news, whatever packages, video, whatever.
Just to give ya'll an idea about how much CNN actually produces, we're probably in the neighborhood of 8-10 hours per day worth of fresh edited or unedited, voiced or unvoiced video. Many local news stations rely on CNN to provide all the material they need for regional, nationwide and worldwide news. For someone to effectively oversee what reporters are putting on that feed from day to day would be a pretty daunting task.
When producing a news program, it's really amazing how many stories CNN puts out that will never see the light of day due to the sheer volume of stuff. We really can't talk about CNN and its reporters faults without acknowledging that the producers at the local/national level should at least share some fault here.
