Somewhat related... but back in my days when I was defending freedom in the U.S. Air Farce as A1C AlphaSigOU the base I was stationed at was pretty close to the front lines of the Cold War, and we almost always had regular 'Salty Nation' basewide alerts.
Almost always around 4:00 in the morning the 'Giant Voice' speakers throughout the base began playing the
William Tell Overture (aka the 'Lone Ranger' theme) in between pauses where a voice would repeat "BASE RECALL, BASE RECALL... ALL PERSONNEL REPORT TO YOUR DUTY SECTIONS IMMEDIATELY!" Grab your chem warfare gear and head on down to the chow hall... after a while we got tired of the alarm and took our time getting to our duty section, which royally p*ssed off the powers that be.
One time there was one guy in another dorm who played a prank and played the recall tune at full blast on his barracks blaster stereo... how he wasn't lynched I don't know.
To this day I can't listen to the
William Tell Overture without remembering that!
