My understanding is, you go to jail, they make you do work, they don't pay you. Now is that slavery? Personally I don't have a problem with that. I say, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime..... Is there something I am missing???

My issue is not with the prison system in this case (I have other issues with the prison system). My issue is that slavery is allowed ANYWHERE, prison or not. When it was abolished, it should have been abolished COMPLETELY. Why is there even an "except" in the amendment??? Now whenever the question is asked why do minorities make up the majority of those incarcerated in the prison system, I will always think back to this: because slavery is allowed there.
I guess it's just me that feels this way. But I get used to that.
